I hear your pain, Mumat and have to agree, if youv'e never even so much as looked at a TCG before then there's a AWFUL lot to take in.
But, like the old Tusken saying goes, "How do you eat a bantha? One bite at a time..."
Have you tried playing through the tutorials? Just taking it slow?
At it's very simplest, it's a numbers game. You draw a card and, in an offense / attack turn it's the damage value (number by the little lightsaber) that matters. The TOTAL defence of your enemy must be below your total attack (so if you are playing multiple cards at a mission, it's all of them if it's just one or avatar v avatar, then it's just the one) for you to damage the other guy.
If you just match him you'll do one point damage and take one point. Have a higher DAM than his DEF and he'll take two points. His DEF higher than your DAM? Well, you just lost that hand and will take two point of damage back.
You will get the chance to 'attempt a quest' and, at that point, it's the little 'power' number on your abilities that matter. You'll take one of your abiities and 'spend' it at the quest. If you have a high enough power you'll take the quest and win a little quadrant to go in the middle of the board. If not enough then it's just added to a tally and you can attempt it again in a later turn, hopefully taking it this time.
When you win a complete scenario you may get a loot card (in the scanarios it's fixed as to what you'll get , in tournaments it's random, afaics). You may also find loot cards in the packs of (virtual) cards that you can buy from Station Store. Those are where the speeders etc are coming from, mostly, at the moment.
Once you win a loot card you can eother trade it in the TCG (as with any other tradeable card) or you can redeem it at which point it'll become available in the /cliam menu of your SWG account. Most redeemed items are no trade, if you want to trade it, trade it in the TCG.
You may also loot packs of cards in SWG itself. These can be sold in game, or allocated to your TCG account and used as normal.
Heck, I've probably just made things even MORE confused for you, lol, but, good intentions and all?
TBH, it's far easier to sit somebody down with a game and show them how it works but, atm, I don't feel confident enough to be able to do it with the TCG. Maybe somebody else in the guild could offer a hand? *stronghint ON* ;)
Stick with it, Mumat.
It's fun once you figure it out.
